A Case of Malignant Giant Cell Tumor Treated by Kotz Modular Prosthesis at Supracondylar Area of Femur

Abstract
Giant cell tumor of bone is a solitary lesion characterized by appearing osteoclast like giant cells and stromal cells that originates within the epiphysis of adults.
The tumor is most frequently found around the knee joint and distal end of the radius. Although almost always benign, the tumor is locally aggressive and tend to have a high rate of recurrence and malignant transformation. So the satisfactory
method of
treatment has not yet been established. The method of curettage with or without bone graft, phenol or alcohol cauterization, cryosurgery were high incidence of recurrence rate. Recently, segmental knee replacement for patients with a bone tumor
about
the knee joint is being performed more frequently due to preserving joint function and normal life expectency or active life style of the patient.
We report one case of malignant giant cell tumor treated by Kotz modular prosthesis which gives satisfactory result of knee function.
